For those searching for a low-cost fitness band, a wearable is a popular option. One million Xiomi Mi Band 6s were sold in just two weeks after their availability! That’s even before it was made accessible for foreign purchasing.

In this update, we take a look at the future of the world’s most popular budget fitness band, including what to expect from the Xiaomi Mi Band 7, as well as possible technological specifications and release date.

There have been several interesting leaks about its likely features, and when combined with the other ideas, we’ve come up with the best guess for this much-anticipated Band 7

Design display

The greatest difference between the Xiaomi Mi Band 6 and its predecessor is the larger display. It’s safe to say that this has become something of a custom. In 2021, we got a 1.56-inch AMOLED that conforms to the curve of the band, up from the previous 1.1-inch model. That’s really a significant increase.

According to the manufacturer, this type of display provides consumers with 50% more screen space than the previous model.

The current version is significantly larger and thicker than generation 5, measuring 47.4 x 18.6 x 12.7mm.

Furthermore, it was done without increasing the device’s size, implying that the increase was achieved via lowering the bezel around the edges.

Do you believe the display size will finally remain the same in 2022? Then reconsider. Xiaomi appears to be following Huawei and Honor’s lead.

Their latest fitness bands have an even larger screen (measured at 1.64 inches) than the Mi Band 6. This was accomplished by making the display’s central section wider than the strap.

It is possible that the designers may opt for this route. A recent Chinese patent suggests this. It depicts a Xiaomi “smart bracelet” that appears to be similar to the current model. The key distinction is the display, which extends beyond the strap’s width.

If this design is adopted, the barrier between fitness bands and smartwatches will be blurred even further. Will the customers, on the other hand, be pleased?

According to this, the Mi Band 7 is being developed under the codename “L66.”M2129B1 and M2130B1 are the model numbers in development.

According to reports, the Xiaomi Mi Band 7 is expected to have a display resolution of 192 x 490 pixels. That’s the same width as the Honour Band 6, but it’s a little taller.

The Mi Band 7 is expected to have a larger display with an always-on option, built-in GPS (maybe), smart wake, password, power-saving battery mode, and other features.

Xiaomi has been quite consistent in introducing new Mi Band models every year. Since 2016, these have been revealed in May or June, except for 2021.

As a result, the Mi Band 7 might arrive at any moment now — possibly in May or June if Xiaomi sticks to the earlier release schedule.

In terms of cost, it’s been steadily rising. You should expect to pay roughly $60 for the current generation (check the current price on Amazon). This is the upper limit of what you’d want to spend on a budget fitness tracker. This is why we don’t expect Xiaomi to raise the price any higher.
