Description: The announcement of a new Steven Moffat production has always been exciting – but with the latest cast introduction of drama mini-series Inside Man, there is, even more to look forward to thanks to a star-studded ensemble led by David Tennant and Stanley Tucci.

Shooting is now expected to begin later this year. As a result, there is no official air date yet, but we will update this page as soon as one is available. The series, a collaboration between BBC Studios and Netflix, will be broadcast on BBC One and BBC iPlayer in the UK and on Netflix globally.

David Tennant’s terrifying portrayal in 2020’s ITV thriller Des, as well as a huge list of TV achievements like Deadwater Fell, Broadchurch, and Doctor Who, have more than demonstrated his ability with hard parts, and he is prepared to do something in this series.

Lydia West, who just completed work on Russell T Davies’ thriller It is A Sin, is another intriguing addition to the cast. Her depiction of Jill, the powerful and friendly campaigner during London’s AIDS epidemic in the 1980s and 1990s, has received much appreciation. She spoke about how “inspiring” the real-life Jill. Her role was inspired when they worked around each other.

Stanley Tucci, a well-known Hollywood actor, has also agreed to participate in the production. He became an early lockdown sensation last year with a video that went viral displaying his careful crafting of an evening Negroni – although apart from cocktail-making abilities, he is later seen on camera with Colin Firth in romantic drama Supernova, as well as Feud, The King’s Man, and Spotlight.

Dracula’s Dolly Wells also has been recruited in a key part in the programme; she was previously seen in the dystopian romance series Soulmates, and the Oscar-nominated film Can You Ever Forgive Me? for Best Adapted Screenplay. As of now, no trailer has been released, sadly.

Inside Man is a character-driven thriller that portrays a criminal on the death penalty in the United States, a Vicar in a peaceful English village, and a maths teacher locked in a cellar as they meet paths in the most unpredictable way. It is described as a four-part mini-series of 60-minute episodes.

How these people interact with one another is unknown. However, according to Netflix exec Chris Sussman, retaining this sense of mystery is critical to appreciate the show truly. “It is hard to say very much about Inside Man without offering up spoilers – so let us just state the writings are diabolically smart, the cast is wonderful, and at this particular moment in time nobody except Steven knows how everything is going to finish,” he said in a remark.
