On December 10, 2021, West Side Story will be released in cinemas. However, the epidemic prevented it from being released in December. By postponing the release by one year, this new West Side Story will be released on the 60th anniversary of the original 1961 release. Currently, West Side Story is only available in theatres.

Details on Storyline

Arthur Laurents penned the script for West Side Story, which Leonard Bernstein composed and Stephen Sondheim penned the lyrics. In 1961, a film based on the musical was released. Steven Spielberg has a lot to live up to as a result of this. He’s one of our most talented surviving directors, and he’s still alive and well. There are 33 Puerto Rican characters, and according to Vanity Fair, 20 of them are Puerto Rican or have Puerto Rican heritage.”

The film stars Ansel Elgort* as Tony; Rachel Zegler and Arin DeBose as Maria and Anita; David Alvarez as Bernardo; Mike Faist as Riff; Ana Isabelle as Rosala; Corey Stoll as Lieutenant Schrank; and Brian d’Arcy James as Officer Krupke; and Rita Moreno as Valentina, the owner of the corner store where Tony works.

In 2014, a 17-year-old lady accused Elgort of sexual abuse. A brief and mutually agreed upon link was claimed by Elgort as a denial of this claim. However, this may alter as the film nears its release date.
