Walking Dead and Black Panther stars’ horror movie finally gets a “TITLE”

Jordan Peele, the creator of the social thriller Get Out, neatly captures what the last year has felt like for us all in one word: “Nope.” The Oscar-winning director of “Get Out” and “Us” announced the title and a poster for the forthcoming horror film on social media today. “Get Out” and “Us” will be released in IMAX cinemas on July 22, 2022.

The billboard portrays a well-lit town in a valley above green hills and a kite tail with triangle flags dangling from a cloud above engulfed in blue-black gloom and with midnight coming.

Peele’s “new fear” includes Steven Yeun of “Minari” and “The Walking Dead,” child-star-turned-talk-show-host Keke Palmer, “Euphoria” actress Barbie Ferreira, and “The OA” costar Brandon Perea, though no narrative specifics have been released. Despite his strong desire for a well-deserved rom-com moment, Oscar winner Daniel Kaluuya reunites with his “Get Out” director Jordan Peele on another highly anticipated horror film.

Ferreira uploaded Peele’s “Nope” poster to her Instagram account, captioning it with a single cloud emoji. Palmer said on Instagram, “#NopeMovie 7.22.22 — I know y’all see the IMAX,” while artist Issa Rae shared her enthusiasm, writing, “Can’t. Wait.” On social media, fans and public personalities are speculating about the film’s title.

“I assumed this was a prank merely by the title, but once I realized this was the genuine poster, I screamed,” film reviewer Rendy Jones tweeted. Jordan Peele should name his horror films Pixar-style.” “Jordan Peele: get out; us: nope,” commented another user.
Peele won the original screenplay award for “Get Out” after the film grossed over $255 million worldwide and received four Oscar nominations. “Us,” Peele’s follow-up, grossed another $255 million at the movie office.

While some people are eager to see if Peele would “creepify” an R&B classic in an upcoming teaser, others are looking forward to Palmer’s Oscar moment. Palmer has been a recognizable figure in Hollywood since 2006’s “Akeelah and the Bee,” appearing in Disney’s “Jump In” and “Scream Queens,” and co-hosting morning shows, producing her own sketches on social media, and working on films like “Hustlers.” She discussed the possibility to join Peele’s horror realm in an April 2021 interview with Refinery29.

“It’s just the type of thing that happens by chance,” she explained. “Everything is in place. It’s as though the things you hope for are truly happening.” Despite the fact that we don’t have any further information, there are obvious indicators that viewers are both anxious and excited to see “Nope.”
