The Conjuring The Devil Made Me Do It And The Real Story Behind It

iDuring an argument, Arne Johnson, a tenant in Connecticut, US, shot and killed his landlord, Alan Bono. According to Lorraine Warren, Arne was ‘possessed’ during an exorcism ritual for an 11-year-old boy the day after the murder. According to his defense attorney, Arne was possessed by a demon while testifying in court. The claim was quickly dismissed by the judge, who stated that such a claim cannot be proven and is thus inadmissible in court.

As a result, Arne was sentenced to ten to twenty years in prison for first-degree manslaughter. He did, however, only serve in the military for five years. In a 1985 Associated Press report, one of the state’s top parole officers described Johnson as an “exemplary inmate.”

Do the accounts of Arne Johnson and the Warrens ring true to director Michael Chaves? Chaves told Slashfilm about his first read of the script, which he described as “elated and out-of-my-mind-excited [but] conflicted by the fact that there is a real victim.” “There is a man who died, and we aren’t even telling the story from his point of view,” he continued. We’re telling the story from the perspective of the man who killed him, as the man who claimed to be possessed. And I was thinking from the start, “I hope I get this right.” It would be ideal if the story was correct.’ That, in my opinion, cannot be minimized.

“In the end,” Chaves says, “this is a Conjuring film, and this is the story of the Warrens, and their experience, and their journey.” They accepted it as fact because they trusted Arne Johnson. As a result, they jeopardized their careers by testifying in his defense at trial. When it comes to religious stories, there is never a shortage. And they’re usually stories about our faith in God or the characters’ faith. And [this chapter] is more about our trust in the people with whom we interact. Debbie Glatzel is David Glatzel’s exorcised childhood sweetheart’s sister. She was present at the time of the crime and was able to testify in his favor. They married while he was in prison and lived happily ever after. She believed in him, so she supported him. As I pondered this, I found it difficult to settle on my belief, but in the end, I decided that my belief had to give way to their narrative. Finally, it’s a story about their faith in God and their faith in each other.”
