TCL’S CHEAP 5G 2021 PHONE QUIETLY LAUNCHED IN ITALY LAST MONTH

Smartphone market has a cut throat competition in present time. One mistake and you are out of the league, just like what HTC and Nokia happened. Nokia was a market leader once and today not even in the top 10 list.

The CES 2021 tech event is going to held soon and a phone has been launched already ahead of the event. A smartphone manufacturing company named TCL has launched its new phone TCL 20 5G on December 7 in Italy. The phone was announced there by the end of November, though the phone has not been launched yet anywhere in the world, as per the company. The phone is available in Vodafone and TIM stores.

THE SPECS

The company made really a strange move by launching the phone right ahead of the tech event. The phone was introduced to Italian population by the end of the November. The phone will be powered with a Snapdragon 690 5G chipset. It will have a RAM of 6GB, a screen of size 6.66 inches with full HD display with an all-new NXT Vision technology. It will have three rear cameras, the primary one with 48 megapixels, an ultra-wide sensor which will provide 118 degree of view and one for macro photography.

The specs turned out to be a litter bit lower than its predecessor. the TCL 10 5G had even better specs than the newer one. It does not usually happen that the new product in the series has poor specs than its older variant. The phone should have been one level up with the previous one. The phone has been priced at around US $367 which is a little cheaper than the TCL 10 5G which used to come for US $540. The price cut does make sense as it has lower specs.

Though there hasn’t been much heard about the phone, but it is expected that it will be officially announced at the CES 2021 event. The company is likely to launch other phones also. In the CES event last year, the company launched seven new phones which make sure that this time also, there won’t be just a single phone.

As the event is going to held from 11th to 14th January, 2021, the TCL should have waited to launch it. Do you think it was the right move to launch the product ahead of the event or should they have waited?
