The Success Run

Even before release, the stories of outrageous prices for the movie’s tickets were doing the rounds. It may be safe to say that after Avengers: Endgame, Spider-Man: No Way Home is the only movie to create so much hype about itself. And the hype has been converted into a heap of fortune.

As of now, the movie collected $253 million in its box office on the first day of screening. Not only that, but the movie also globally collected $587.2 million.

Both these numbers are the highest for any movie that has released in the COVID 19 era. In terms of top box office collections of all time on the first day, the movie stands at the 3rd spot.

The CEO of Sony Motion Picture Group, Tom Rothman expressed his happiness at the movie’s blockbuster opening day. He said that this kind of response to the movie has proved once again that theaters hold a special place in the heart of all movie lovers and people will go to theaters no matter what.

While it is good that the movie as done so well, other movies that are hitting the theaters are not doing so well. Take for instance Nightmare Alley. In comparison to Spider-Man: No Way Home, Nightmare Alley only managed to collect around $3 million in its box office in its first day.

The main reason for this can be Spider-Man: No Way Home has a larger audience base than Nightmare Alley as the later is an adult movie.

To sum it up, Spider-Man: No Way Home is kind of running the theaters across the globe single handedly.
