The police were called to Luna Drive and Armenia Drive at 11:08 p.m. on August 13, 2021, in connection to a gunshot. Emergency personnel found Cortez Richardson, 12, with a gunshot wound.
First assistance was administered until EMS came. Emergency Room doctors declared Richardson dead at 11:51 pm on August 13, 2021, at Piedmont Columbus Regional Hospital.

After a late-night gunshot, a 12-year-old child has died, according to Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan. In the early hours of Saturday morning, the Columbus Police Department responded to a gunshot on Luna Drive on the city’s east side.
After being evacuated away from the site, the youngster was pronounced dead at Piedmont Columbus Regional. In Muscogee County, this is the 43rd homicide of the year 2021.
