If you are an Apple Watch owner then you must have used the watch’s Digital Crown function. Yes, we are talking about that function which lets you scroll through the Apple Watch interface without touching the screen. From trusted sources we have come to know that maybe this digital crown will be replaced. Here are the complete details.

The Patent

Very recently a patent management company named Patently Apple has reported that Apple Corporation has filed a patent for an optical sensor.

This will replace the digital crown on the Apple Watch.

Furthermore, the sensor will be made in such a way that it will mimic the function performed by the crown. The user will have to make the gesture of turning the crown at the spot where the crown was actually situated.

Moreover, the removal of the crown will help in making a bigger battery. And, also using the space saved to include more sensors that can perform more functions.

The absence of the crown will mean that the Apple Watch will have lesser moving parts. And this will make it even more durable.

Moving ahead, the new sensor will also be able to measure heart rate, breathing rate, blood oxygen level, and blood pressure.

We are certain that the fans of the Apple Watch are speculating that the new crownless watch will be launched later in the year 2022.

But we should keep in mind that this is just one patient. And, as seen with previous apple products, a technology patented by apple takes time to actually get into one of their products. History shows that they take two to three years to actually bring new technology into their products. So, we can safely say that the crown from the Apple Watch is not going anywhere for at least two or three years.
