On an interview, the Suicide Squad actor discusses the destiny of his character

Joel Kinnaman, who plays Rick Flag in James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad, has talked out about the fate of his character. The Guardians of the Galaxy director’s R-rated movie left no one unharmed, but Kinnaman’s character’s death was the most significant.

A hard disc holding details on how the deadly space beast arrived on Earth and who funded Gaius Grieves’ (Peter Capaldi) experiments is stolen by the crew when they learn of the US’ involvement in Project Starfish.

General Flag (John Cena) feels betrayed by his government when it comes to releasing the data to the media. Then he declares, “I don’t care how many men, women, and children I have to slaughter in order to achieve world peace.” Peacemaker, in the film’s final minutes, kills Ratcatcher 2 (Daniela Melchior) before Bloodsport (Idris Elba) comes and seriously injures Peacemaker before Bloodsport arrives and critically injures Peacemaker (but leaves him alive enough to be rescued and to star in his upcoming solo show, as it turns out).

“That whole battle sequence and those last seconds really startled me,” Kinnaman revealed in a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter about his last moments as Flag.  It was a battle for life and death in the closing minutes, and there was a deep and emotional connection between the characters.

For a film that is full of irreverence and dumb humour, this is a painful and sombre scene. Melanie Melchior stated, “James was able to root the film in some real emotion, and that helped elevate everything.”

The closing remarks of Peacemaker’s assassin, on the other hand, are equally damaging to Flag. His heart had been penetrated by the bullet. Cena’s character just realises how much of a phoney he is at that point, unlike everyone else.

It’s revealed that Peacemaker was located in the ruins of the building and is now unconscious. Jennifer Holland and Steve Agee have been assigned to Peacemaker by Amanda Waller (Viola Davis) as a form of retribution for stopping her from murdering the whole squad at the end of the movie.

Peacemaker is planned to examine the character’s origins, with Agee and Holland returning their roles. It appears that the figure will be sent on a fresh mission to “rescue the world, that’s it.” As so, it is possible that Flag’s death will not be in vain and that Peacemaker’s last words to Flag will influence him. “The Suicide Squad” is now playing in UK and US movie theatres. After its premiere in the United States, it will also be streamed on HBO Max for 31 days.
