Molly Shannon is a wonderful actress and comedian who is loved by many people of all age groups.

Well, during an interview with ‘Los Angeles Times, she finally opened up about the family tragedy that she suffered in her childhood and the ways that changed her completely.

She spoke about her family in the past 30 years of her career.

Comedian Molly has said that when she was 4 years old, she lost her mother, younger sister, and cousin in the car accident, with her father who was driving the car in the influence. He survived but then suffered terrible injuries.

She also said ‘I was very heartbroken and very sad and just trying to hold it all together as a kid.’

 Furthermore, she expressed that ‘There’s no way that you could feel that type of deep pain about your mother and your sister being dead, so you just hold it all in, and it comes up later in life.’

After the accident, she and her sister lived with her aunt but she knew that life wouldn’t be the same as it is earlier.

How This Tragedy Inspired Molly 

After this heartbreak, she came out as a comedian and joined the cast members of Saturday Night Live in 1995. 

Shannon played the awkward role of MaryKatherine Gallagher who generally prefers to sniff her armpit whenever she is nervous. Moreover, in her role, she is an unpopular catholic school girl.

Molly throws herself in a metal chair or any object without padding she didn’t care about the tragedy.

She added ‘I didn’t care if I cut myself or I made myself bleed. I did not give a s**t. I looked at it like punk rock. I was reckless, and because of what I went through, I just didn’t care about anything.’

She added pain and suffering to the character that she suffered during her childhood and which made her a superstar. 

After knowing her story, we are certain that a lot of her fans will not admire her only because she is a talented actress, but even because of her strength and courage. Having said that, she is a perfect example of turning weaknesses into courage.
