MODERN FAMILY AND THE FLASH STARS WILL LEAD A GAY ROM-COM MOVIE

Keiynan Lonsdale from The Flash and Sarah Hyland from Modern Family will star in the upcoming gay romance comedy My Fake Boyfriend. It follows a young man who, on the advice of his best buddy, creates a fictitious spouse.

However, when the former falls in love with his phoney boyfriend, discarding him proves to be a complex undertaking. In addition to Rose Troche, the film’s screenwriters include Luke Albright, Joe Wanjai Ross, and Greg Boaldin. Reid, Jason Moring, and Michael Philip are the producers.

On Thursday, July 29, the initiative was revealed by BuzzFeed’s SVP of Global Content & Head of Studio, Richard Alan Reid. He said, “My Fake Boyfriend is a fresh comedy with universal appeal, led by an exciting, diverse cast of talent.”

“Rose Troche is the perfect person to tell this queer love story, and we’re thrilled to join with Lionsgate to share it with millennial and Gen Z audiences around the globe.”

Along with Dance Academy and Love, Simon Lonsdale’s other credits include Vampire Academy and Shadowhunters: The Mortal Instruments. But, perhaps best recognised for his role as Cole Sprouse’s twin brother in Disney’s The Suite Life of Zack & Cody during the mid-2000s, Sprouse has also been in a number of films and TV series.
