According to authorities, a Michigan family confirmed missing earlier this month has been found dead.

MLive records that Amanda Pomeroy and Douglas Dougherty and their newborn son, Jacob Dougherty, had vanished from Bay City on January 12. Authorities released an endangered missing alert on 16 January, after unanswered texts and calls to the family.

The Ogemaw County Sheriff Department reported that a snowmobile operator had seen a pick-up truck in a secluded area in Rose City on January 24 and had called the authorities. Authorities who searched the scene said they found all three family members dead inside the truck in a wooded area off Stoney Ridge Road.

Although the pair allegedly had trouble with substance addiction, the police said that drugs actually didn’t play a role in their deaths. Investigators said the family truck broke down and they didn’t have a way to escape the weather.

“I knew he wasn’t leaving and he was going to call me. He called me if not every day, maybe every two or three days,” said Dougherty’s mother, Shirley Dougherty, to ABC 13.

The investigation is reportedly ongoing to ascertain the official cause of death of all three victims.

Meanwhile, the family has set up a GoFundMe website to assist with funeral and burial expenses. In the future we will make sure to update you with more.
