Martin Clunes’ Manhunt Series 2 is speculated to come this autumn!

ITV has revealed that Martin Clunes will return to our screens for the second season of detective thriller Manhunt. Clunes will resume his role as former London Metropolitan Police officer DCI Colin Sutton in Manhunt II: The Night Stalker, a four-part drama based on true events.

Series two, based on Sutton’s journals, is set to premiere next year and will follow the DCI as he chases a serial rapist “whose 17-year reign of terror terrorized hundreds of elderly people in southeast London.”

Manhunt II is already in the works, with Silent Witness’s Ed Whitmore authoring the screenplays once more. “We are extremely delighted that ITV has given us the chance to dramatize another significant case that Colin Sutton was engaged in right before his retirement from the Force,” executive producer Philippa Braithwaite said in a statement.

“His investigation differs significantly from the Bellfield case in that the victims were old and the murders went undetected for many years,” she noted. “The drama follows Colin’s late arrival in the investigation and his role in solving it in a couple of weeks, removing a very dangerous serial rapist from the streets.”

The first season of Manhunt, which aired last year, followed DCI Sutton on the hunt for serial murderer Levi Bellfield, whose 2004 murder of Amelie Delagrange on Twickenham Green was later connected to the 2003 and 2002 murders of Marsha McDonnell and Milly Dowler. Clunes garnered tremendous acclaim for his depiction of the detective, which drew a nine-million-strong viewership.
