MANIFEST REVIVAL HOPES BOOSTED BY NETFLIX

Fans of the NBC supernatural drama, Manifest have been non-stop campaigning on Twitter for over a month with the hashtag #SaveManifest. The campaign was spread-headed because of the cancellation of the show which occurred in June. The hashtag was started by the creator Jeff Rake and the loyal fans of the show took it ahead. As a result of the campaign, the show has a new hope to get a revival contract very soon.

In 2018, Manifest first hit the screens after it was picked up by NBC. The show gained a huge success as it had a ton of viewers. However, when the third season arrived the viewership of the show declined and NBC made the decision to axe the show. The story of the show Manifest follows the lives of the crew and passengers onboard Flight 838 after it disappeared en route to New York from Montego Bay. But the plane has not disappeared because it did land after 5 years while the family and the friends of the passengers thought that everyone was dead on the journey. After many interrogations, the pilot captain Daly maintained his innocence and even stole a plane to prove it. To everyone’s surprise, there was no sign of him when the National Guard shot the plane down and in a major turn of events, Daly reappeared in the season finale after being away for most of the series.

After the show was axed, Jeff Rake started the hashtag and now after a month the show reappeared on Netflix’s Top-10 list and was named the most-streamed show a week after its cancellation. Although the other seasons are already on the streaming platform, Netflix decided against picking up the show for revival. However, according to Deadline, NBC is in talks with production studio Warner Bros about a potential renewal. On the other hand, The Warner studios are also in conversation with Netflix as they hunt for a streaming platform to air season four.

Now there are whispers that a possible U-turn from the networks came after a fan page noticed that NBC had revised their timetable. Deadline also reported that Netflix was motivated to revive the series after it remained in its top 10 positions for over a month.Back in June, the creator of the show said that if everything else fails he will produce a movie or a book spin-off. He said, “I would love to finish the story and look, I’m going to take some time. I’m going to hold out hope that maybe somebody will step up and help us finish that story – whether that means more episodes, whether that means a final kind of movie like they did with the show Firefly, or a lot of people have asked me ‘write the book’ and you know, that’s a cool concept but [it’s a major endeavor] and I’m going to think about it.”
