Is There A Story Behind The Game Of Pachinko

Pachinko follows the journey of a Korean family who relocates to Japan during Japan’s occupation of a then-unified Korea and their participation in World War II.

Pachinko’s appeal stems from Lee’s ability to seamlessly weave characters into this timeline. Sunja makes the difficult decision to travel to Japan while living in poverty, where she discovers a deep-seated anti-Korean prejudice.

When did Pachinko first appear

Despite the novel’s 490-page length, Deadline reports that an eight-episode special is in the works. Soo Hugh (The Terror) is the showrunner, and he has yet to reveal whether he intends to faithfully follow the events of the novel or introduce new plot elements.

Who Will Be Playing Pachinko

According to Deadline, the cast includes established Asian stars as well as Hollywood newcomers, with dialogue in English, Japanese, and Korean and locations on multiple continents.

Lee Min-ho, a well-known South Korean actor, was the first to be announced as a member of the show’s main cast in October. Hansu will be played by The King: Eternal Monarch’s star.

The former is a wealthy businessman looking for his long-lost daughter, whereas the latter is a self-sufficient woman. Anna Sawai, a Japanese-New Zealander who appeared in Fast and Furious 9, will play Naomi, a careerist in the male-dominated world of finance.

Kogonada and Justin Chon will direct four episodes each, with Kogonada directing the show’s pilot episode. Along with Min Jin Lee, both directors will serve as executive producers.

What Do The Actors Think Of The Pachinko TV Show

Lee Min-ho stated in an interview with Esquire Korea in September 2021 that he wanted to portray his character Hansu “truthfully” by capturing “the male image from that era.”

He explained, “I wanted to stay true to the character.” At the time, I tried to concentrate on how desperate they were for survival.

The actor was aiming for a character who has survived and met the woman he loves. I also wanted to demonstrate how people can positively express their love for one another.

Trailer

There is currently no trailer for the series. I expect it to arrive around the time of the premiere.
