Evangelion 4.0 Release Date: Everything We Know So Far

Neon Genesis Evangelion 4.0 (or Evangelion 3.0 + 1.0) will be the final anime film (reboot) of Neon Genesis Evangelion.

Fans of the series will be aware that the release has been postponed for a long time, with the original release date set for 2015. The deferral stated that the delay is due to the creator’s mental health concerns and his most recent project, Shin Godzilla.

Evangelion is a Japanese anime series (Neon Genesis Evangelion).

This anime series aired from 1995 to 1996. The fourth and final installment of the Rebuild of Evangelion tetralogy will be released soon.

Because this is the final pack in the series, fans predict that the release of all timelines is on the same day.

Expected release date

Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo, the third installment in the “Rebuild of Evangelion” film series, premiered on November 17, 2012.

The fourth and final film, Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time, was announced alongside the third. Unlike the other two films, which were critical and commercial hits, “You Can (Not) Redo” had a lackluster response. The franchise’s director and producer, Hideaki Anno, then succumbed to yet another bout of severe melancholy.

In 2015, he made a public statement disclosing that he had not visited the studio once in 2013. Toho (one of the two co-distributors of ‘Thrice Upon a Time’) invited Anno to co-direct their new ‘Godzilla’ project the same year.

Anno, who had been apprehensive at first, eventually accepted. In July 2016, the film “Shin Godzilla” was released. Because Anno was working on “Shin Godzilla,” the development of “Thrice Upon a Time” was initially delayed.

However, by April 2017, filming on the fourth Evangelion film had already begun. The first ten minutes of the film at the Japan Expo in Paris on July 6, 2019, by Khara. Similarly, at Anime Expo in Los Angeles, CCG Expo 2019 in Shanghai, and on several Japanese websites. The film’s production was on track and hit theatres on June 27, 2020. However, the COVID epidemic struck in April 2020, leading the film to fall back from the schedule.

January 23, 2021, has been set as the new release date. However, due to the epidemic, the movie was postponed until January 14, 2021.

The producers have since indicated that the premiere will not reschedule. With the arrival of COVID vaccines, the movie pushed forward for its completion. As a result of all of this, ‘Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time’ was launched in March 2021.

Trailer

Thankfully, we have an Evangelion 4.0 trailer, which you can watch below. This anime is available to watch right now on Amazon Prime Video.

The Plot

The film tetralogy is a reiteration of “Neon Genesis Evangelion,” even though it has some original elements.

The brutal sci-fi picture is set in a universe where humanity is pitted against an alien species known as the angels, who use bio-mechanized armor known as Evangelions to fight humans. In the third film, Shinji Ikari and the Evangelion Unit 01 are discovered in a container in Earth’s orbit.

After being taken out of the unit, Shinji is transferred to see Captain Misato Katsuragi, who is now the head of WILLE.

Shinji realizes that activating Unit 01 resulted in the Third Impact after escaping and reconciling with his father, Gendo Ikari, and Rei Ayanami. The film ends with Unit 13 rising, signaling the beginning of the Fourth Impact.

Asuka saves Shinji when his friend Kaworu dies. The opening sequence of Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time, as seen during the Paris screening, was set in Paris. It shows a group of WILLE fighters descending from Wunder and launching an attack on the adversary.

Later in the film, the three pilots who are still stranded in Japan may be rescued. The Black Moon, seen in one of the trailers, could play a part in the plot.

So, tell us are Excited!! Of course yes. Do you think there will be new additions in the cast in this season?
