Entertainment Events Cancelled Or Postponed Due To Omicron Surge

The growing omicron strain has triggered a series of additional cancellations. And also delayed the entertainment events for 2022. It looks like the commencement of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. The exponentially growing Omicron variant and its older cousin, the Delta variant, are causing it to repeat all.

With that being mentioned, many planned activities in Southern California are now being rescheduled, canceled. And some more are adjusted in another event including “Hamilton,” the Oscars’ Governors Awards, and the 2022 Palm Springs International Film Festival.

Furthermore, on Wednesday, the increased cases were reported, with 16,510 cases compared to 6,509 a week before.

Entertainment Events Rescheduling Details

As mentioned above, with the increase of omicron cases, the entertainments industry is again at the stage of rescheduling or canceling the events. Having said that one of them is the critic choice awards. 

The production team of The Critics’ Choice Association was planning to conduct the event on Jan,9,2022. This event was planned earlier for Dec 23, 2022. But, unfortunately, it seems that it will be delayed even further.

Moreover, the show, which is planned to air on The CW and TBS, has yet to be rescheduled.

Furthermore, the Season 14 red carpet launch of “RuPaul’s Drag Race” at the Westfield Century City Mall on Jan 5 is also delayed. The queens will rather hold a live event closer to the spring finale of the show.

Moving ahead, according to the plans, in 2022, the Slamdance Film Festival will indeed be entirely virtual. The festival’s opening date has been pushed back a week, and then it will take place from January 27 to February 6.

Also, the Palm Springs International Film Society said on Wednesday that the Awards will take in January,17,2022 instead of January 7, 2022.

 Tickets purchased in advance will get a refund.  

And with that, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, which organizes the Academy Awards, also has announced that the Governors Awards scheduled for January 15, will be postponed.

Well, it seems that the entertainment industry is again on the hit list of omicron in terms of plans for their viewers.
