Dwayne Johnson won’t be appearing in Fast & Furious 10 and 11 – Must Read!

Dwayne Johnson has confirmed that he will not reprise his role in Fast & Furious 10 or 11. Agent Luke Hobbs of the US Diplomatic Security Service was his first role in the franchise, which he played in Fast Five. Hobbs has become a staple part of Dom’s chosen family since his debut into the franchise, and he now has his own spin-off in Hobbs & Shaw.

The mysterious absence of Dwayne Johnson from the most recent edition of the franchise, F9, has revived reports of on-set infighting and hostility. Johnson started rumors of a rivalry in 2016, before the release of The Fate of the Furious, when he wrote an Instagram message criticizing some of his male cast mates, which Johnson subsequently acknowledged was intended at franchise star Vin Diesel.

Soon after, Johnson’s spat with co-star Tyrese Gibson became public, with Gibson accusing Johnson of delaying F9 after being given his own spin-off in Hobbs & Shaw. That feud has since died down, but the one between Diesel and Johnson is said to be still going strong.

In a recent interview, Diesel revealed that he employed harsh love as a tactic to achieve the performances he wanted from performers, describing it as “Felliniesque.” Despite Johnson’s (rather unconvincing) explanation that his absence in F9 was due to schedule difficulties, it was widely assumed that he would return, especially when Fast & Furious director Justin Lin suggested having him in the tenth picture.

In a new interview with THR, Johnson stated that Hobbs will not be appearing in Fast & Furious 10, or maybe ever. When asked about Diesel’s latest remarks, Johnson just stated that he found them amusing. To avoid any bad blood, Johnson indicated that he wished everyone in the series the best, but that he was not interested in being a part of its future—at least not in the main Fast Saga.

“I laughed and I laughed hard. I think everyone had a laugh at that. And I’ll leave it at that. And that I’ve wished them well. I wish them well on Fast 9. And I wish them the best of luck on Fast 10 and Fast 11 and the rest of the Fast & Furious movies they do that will be without me.”

It’s still unclear if Johnson’s absence was due to schedule issues, but it’s becoming more likely that it wasn’t. Johnson, on the other hand, is unquestionably occupied. At the time, he was about to begin filming on Red Notice, his forthcoming Netflix feature starring former Fast & Furious star Gal Gadot. Despite the epidemic delaying shooting, Johnson was still working on his NBC biographical series, Young Rock. He’s now conducting publicity for his next Disney picture Jungle Cruise, which he co-stars Emily Blunt in.

His performance as the titular DC hero in the forthcoming Black Adam film, which just wrapped production, is even more anticipated. Johnson acknowledges that playing Black Adam is the most difficult character he’s ever played.

In any event, Fast & Furious fans will be disappointed to learn that Hobbs may not be a part of the franchise’s main narrative, which will allegedly finish with the 11th film. Hobbs became a real member of Dom’s family, despite his little role, and Johnson’s on-screen charm with the other cast members will be much missed. Hopefully, the two actors can come up with a way to persuade Johnson to alter his mind. Hobbs will not be missed for long, since Johnson is set to return in the upcoming Hobbs & Shaw flick.
