Devotion, A Story Of Love And Desire: Stream it or Skip it?

Devotion a story of love and drama is a Netflix drama from Italy that portrays the same circumstance. Whenever you witness a story about infidelity in a relationship, you’ll see obvious issues in that relationship’s foundation.

This might have resulted in one of the partners cheating. But what if they both look blissful together, in both private and public?

Opening Shot:

You can see a view of Milan. An old building, where a real estate agent Margherita Verna, told a couple that there is no elevator, and 99 steps to the apartment. She’s then saying, “but it’s worth it, because you’ll love it.”

The Gist of Devotion A Story Of Love And Desire

Margherita Verna (Lucrezia Guidone) is showing the apartment to a couple. After a few seconds another client, Carlo Pentecoste (Michele Riondino) walks in; Verna claims she must have double booked showings.

Later on, we came to know that Carlo and Margherita are married to each other. They both have been together for five years. Still, they both seem to be very much in love with each other. Margherita also loves that apartment that she is showing to clients, but they know they can’t afford it.

Carlo is an author by profession and works as a writing professor at the local university. In his class, Sofia Casadei (Carolina Sala)is there whom he considers a talented student. Carlo says he’ll meet with Sofia to help her on the class assignment of writing about, a day that had a great impact on her life.

Meanwhile, Margherita gets a handsome new physical therapist who tells her that her chronic pain might be due less to an old injury.

Actually, Margherita met Carlo as he was writing his first novel, and her influence helped him to finish it. Now he’s in the middle of his second novel, but somehow he lacks inspiration.

We can see at a birthday dinner Carlo’s father offers money to help them get the apartment, which rankles him to no end.

Carlo helps Sofia in her assignment, tapping into some deep emotional wells for both of them. We can see him breaking his own rule and giving her the unfinished manuscript to read. All this he does to help her open up on her writing exercise. But when all the students start the exercise in class, Sofia gets emotional and storms out. Carlo then follows her, and puts a lot of effort to comfort her, things may or may not have gone too far.

What does Devotion A Story Of Love And Desire Remind You Of?

The original title of Devotion, A Story Of Love And Desire is Fedeltà. One thing we can say is, it has a similar plot to The Affair, but has a more straightforward storytelling. Also, this story feels more cosmopolitan and European.

Love or obsession:

Margherita’s obsession with the apartment is not quite sure what it is about. She wants that apartment so badly that she tells the couple who’s bidding on it that the owner took it off the market. It is more likely to be a different type of obsession than what Carlo is embroiled in, and we can’t predict where this plot is going.

Our Call:

We can only say you must stream it. In Devotion, A Story Of Love And Desire, a happy couple soon gets ripped apart by infidelity that may be perceived or real.

You’ll surely love to see how a central couple of the show weathers this storm and what happens if their relationship doesn’t survive!
