Daisy Edgar Jones is ready yet again to take on another bestselling novel with her latest role. The Normal People star has been recently cast for this movie. She was busy shooting to prominence during the 2020 lockdown for starring opposite Paul Mescal in the screen adaptation of Sally Rooney’s coming-of-age novel about love, sex, class, friendship and mental health.

The adaptation will be developed into a movie and has already been assigned its lead cast and director. The film is set on the debut fiction novel written by wildlife scientist Delia Owens. Starting in 1952, the book follows Kya, who grows up in an isolated marshy part of North Carolina. The book is divided into two parts where in on Kya in 1965 is 19 years old before a murder scene enters the story line.

Described as an ‘ode to nature’ and a suspense-laden thriller, the book has garnered praise and interest around the world. Reese Witherspoon acquired the rights of producing the film through her production company Hello Sunshine after she featured it in her online book club.

The first actor to be confirmed to take part in the film is Edgar-Jones, who was an actor one everybody’s lips in 2020 after playing the lead role of the whimsical Marianne in Normal People. The 22-year-old will now be taking on another lead, playing Kya, in the forthcoming screen adaptation.

The movie is just in its starting phase of pre-production and just the director and cast has been confirmed. A lot of work is yet to be done on the movie so as of now no release date has been confirmed.
