NIGHTMARE ALLEY REVIEW

Nightmare Alley official Review

First things first, what is the name of the movie we are so fondly telling you about? To answer your question the name of the movie is ‘Nightmare Alley’. The movie has been made based on the novel of the same name by William Lindsay Gresham. This is not the first time the novel has been made into a movie though.

There is a 1947 black and white movie. We will talk about the 1947 version some other time. For now, let’s focus on the new version.

The new version came out on 17th December 2021. The movie is about a showman named Stan.

He is young and talented and through hard work makes a name for himself in the world in about two years’ time. Basically, he is very good at manipulating rich people and making money out of his manipulative acts.

When at his prime in 1941, he meets his business rival, Blanchett Lilith. She is an even big manipulator and soon Stan and Blanchett join forces. Both Bradley who plays Stan and Cate who plays Blanchett, do absolute justice to their respective roles. Both the actors completely blend in with their characters and provide a stunning experience. Their great acting is complemented by talented co-actors and excellent direction, camera work, great locations and authentic recreation of the time depicted using to the point costume along with set design.

The new Nightmare Alley is just as satisfying to watch as its 1947 version.
