Boy, 13, accused of killing his mother, a Navy veteran, and then calling the cops.

According to investigators, the 13-year-old Georgia kid fatally shot his 37-year-old Navy veteran mother and then dialled 911.

Warner Robins police confirmed that the victim and the suspected assailant were related. At about 1:30 p.m. on Friday, officers discovered Dominique Bowers dead in a Warner Robins, Georgia, residence.

A 911 operator was on the phone “with the possible suspect” about a report of shots fired when officers arrived. Warner Robins police stated in a press release posted to the department’s Facebook page.

An arrest warrant was issued for an adolescent girl, 13, after police identified her a short distance from where the victim was found. Neither the mother nor her son shared a residence, nor did authorities indicate what may have led to the alleged shooting.

After studying psychology at Roanoke College, Bowers was a former Builder Petty Officer 2nd Class in the U.S. Navy. According to her online profile, she was engaged.

He is being held at Crisp County Youth Detention Center, according to police. The shooting suspect, who police have not identified, made his first court appearance in Houston County Superior Court on Saturday.

The youngster has been charged with murder and aggravated assault, and he is being held in juvenile detention. However, it was not immediately obvious whether the man was in custody or had hired an attorney to speak on his behalf.
