Fomalhaut Techno Solutions, the Japanеsе teardown experts team recently disclosed their reports on the bill of materials (BoM). This BoM report shows the component costing in each phone assembly.
This report shows a close approximation of the component manufacturing cost for both iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro.
The story comes up with a figure that shows that the BoM for Phone 12 pro is $406 and BoM for iPhone 12 is $37. Talking about pricing the new iPhone 12 Pro has a retail price of $999 and iPhone 12.has retail pricing of $829.
The report from Fomalhaut Techno Solutions confirms that the most expensive components of this iPhones models are undoubtedly the Qualcomm X55 5G modem which cost around $90 (estimated). After this, it’s the OLED display from Samsung. The estimated price for this Samsung OLED display is around $70. around $90.
Deep in the report, we got the production cost for the A14 Bionic chipset is said to be around $40. Also, the other components like the RAM cost around $12.8 that’s for one unit.
Moreover, flash memory cost around $19.2. And with this pricing, this gets enlisted among the more expensive parts of iPhone 12 and 12 pros. How can we leave the new Sony’s camera sensors the best quality camera sensors. The cost of these sensors per unit is around $7.4 to $7.9.
The report doesn’t stop here but also has an interesting chart. This chart shows the percentage of a component provided by different regions. The chart shows 26.8% of all parts are from South Korea. This percentage chart is for the new iPhone models.
This gets followed by the US with 21.9% and Japan with 13.6%. However, Apple after this large percentage of components from the different region still assembles the majority of its iPhones in China.
