Amazon Says ‘Many’ Services Have Been Restored Following An Outage That Affected Disney+, Netflix, And Slack.

In the wake of a widespread outage that affected popular streaming services and other frequently visited websites, Amazon announced on Tuesday that “many” of its web services had now been restored.

SSO and Eventbridge remained unavailable as of 3:03 p.m. PST, according to an update from Amazon Web Services (AWS).

The update stated that “Engineers are actively working on resolving impact to these services,” Sites reporting issues included Disney+, Netflix Slack, Robinhood, and Coinbase.

Seller Center, a site used by Amazon sellers to manage orders, was also down for them. Amazon has previously stated that network devices in its US-EAST-1 region, hosted in Northern Virginia, were to blame for the outage.

According to an earlier update on Amazon Web Services’ status page, “This issue is also affecting some of our monitoring and incident response tooling, which is delaying our ability to provide updates,”.

In the wake of Amazon’s outage, the company did not provide a timetable for the return of its services.

According To Amazon, The Outage Was Caused By Network Devices

An application programming interface (API) is a collection of protocols for designing and integrating software applications.

Amazon’s services such as Prime Video and others have been reported over 24,000 times to Downdetector.com. The outage tracking website compiles status updates from multiple sources, including user-submitted concerns.

Users began reporting issues around 10:40 a.m. EDT on Tuesday, and the outage may have affected a larger number of people.

According to Tool Tester, a web tool rating site, Amazon has experienced 27 service outages in the last year. In June, some of the world’s most popular websites were unavailable for an hour due to an outage caused by Fastly, a smaller competitor to Amazon Web Services (AWS).
