ALL TABOO SEASON 2 RELATED UPDATES

Tom Hardy built a reputation for himself in the TV world with two blockbuster shows: Peaky Blinders and Taboo. However, after numerous seasons of the former, the latter has remained mysteriously gone since its premiere in January 2017. However, a second season was immediately announced in March 2017, with few specifics about when and how the BBC One/FX series would return.

Executive producer Steven Knight has revealed a few narrative details, and we know that there will be an eight-episode second season of the show. Here are the latest Taboo season 2 news and developments.

Knight told Den of Geek in May 2017 that he was hard at work on Season 2, but no dates have been announced as of yet. In his own words, “I’m only now getting around to it.” It’s now 2021, and Knight indicated in the same interview that Season 2 wouldn’t debut until “far into 2018.”

Tom Hardy’s availability will likely determine whether or not Taboo returns. The actor just wrapped production on Venom: Let There Be Carnage, which is presently in post-production. Hardy’s itinerary will not be available until a later date, which is unknown. From October 2, 2020, to June 25, 2021, and again to September 24, 2021, the movie’s release date was moved. In the meantime, Hardy has announced a few new projects for the coming year. After working with The Raid’s Gareth Evans on Havoc, a Netflix action thriller, he was one of the numerous names associated with an upcoming adaptation of Tim O’Brien’s Vietnam storey collection The Things They Carried, announced in November 2020. Actors are now able to work on non-taboo projects.

Tom Hardy has announced his comeback for the second season in November of 2018. According to Venom’s actor in a statement, “we are grateful and delighted about continuing our collaboration with the BBC and FX in contributing to British drama.” This shouldn’t come as a surprise, given that Hardy was involved in the series’ conception and built his character, James Delaney, to meet his acting goals.

“I wanted to portray Bill Sykes, Sherlock Holmes, Hannibal Lecter, Heathcliff, Marlow, and every other classical figure in one,” he said. When you add them all together, you get a bunch of grunts, according to reports.

In Taboo, Hardy’s smuggler James Delaney returns to London after a 12-year absence in Africa. Delaney is disappointed that his affluent father did not leave him anything of value in his will. He has a run-in with the East India Company, which spends the whole season trying to kill him.

There is no doubt that Delaney and his crew will eventually make their way to the “New World,” but we also know that their next stop is Ponta Delgada. Knight has been coy regarding the show’s future. Entertainment Weekly reported in 2017 that there was a “wonderful destination” for the second season but that he wasn’t “in a position to talk about the facts.”

It’s no secret that Delaney would eventually wind himself in the United States; his father owned land in North America. Knight previously defined Taboo as a narrative about “misfits and America.” Despite Knight’s announcement that he will terminate the programme after Season 3, we still want to see Hardy return on screen.
