A Reddit fan theory casts doubt on a classic Star Wars love story

When fans are passionate and creative about a particular show, they create their theories and share their perspectives with the fandom. In the past few years, many Star Wars fans have talked about their theories on the internet. Some are genuinely plausible, and some are wildly bizzare. And recently, some fans are having an argument related to a new fan theory.

A recent fan theory rose heated talks among the fans, and we are not sure that it is true, but it does put the prequel in a new light. The fan theory says that Padmé never had any feelings for Anakin. A Reddit user said that her one true love was democracy. Apart from that, she pretended to love Anakin, hoping for the galaxy not to slide into a fascist state.

After getting a position in the government, Padmé would have known about the Chosen One prophecy. So this means she knows that Anakin is the chosen one. So she tried to preserve the galaxy while keeping a close eye on Anakin. In the beginning, she took up a maternal or big-sister-like position, such as a friend or a mentor.

During the Attack of the Clone, she finds out that he is attracted to the dark side, and she decides to reinstate her role as a mentor. Then, Anakin tells her that dictatorship is the best form of government, so she realizes that being a friend with him wasn’t enough to keep him from thinking about darker philosophical whims.

So she pretends to fall for him. It also debunks a famous hypothesis where Palpatine took Padmé’s life to keep Leia and Luke alive. But this theory also says that she failed to keep democracy in the galaxy, and Anakin turns into the dark side. So she lost her will to live when the galaxy fell to fascism. The Redditor went on to say that Padmé was not in love with him, but she cared and felt sympathy and pity for him. So it means she never had romantic feelings for Anakin, but love for democracy.
