A blackout is going to hit Los Angeles in the first episode of “9-1-1,” according to two teasers released by Fox on Thursday. A swarm of zoo animals will be roaming the streets of Los Angeles when the power goes out. To see how the 118 reacts to its next over-the-top tragedy on Ryan Murphy’s first-responder drama, watch the first preview in the video above and the second preview in the video below.
9-1-1’s Season 5 debut, entitled “Panic,” has the following official description: Overwhelming number of emergencies for the 118, including a medevac helicopter accident at the hospital and an animal escape from the Los Angeles Zoo, were caused by a series of ransomware attacks. Eddie has a health crisis, and Maddie’s postpartum depression gets worse.”
Michael Grant is played by Rockmond Dunbar, May Grant is played by Corinne Massie, Harry Grant is played by Marcanthee Jon Reis, and Christopher Diaz is played by Gavin McHugh in “9-1-1.” Oliver Stark plays Evan Buckley and Kenneth Choi plays Howie Chimney Han, and Aisha Hinds plays Henrietta “Hen” Wilson.
In May, after the Season 4 finale, showrunner Tim Minear informed TheWrap that Maddie’s postpartum depression will be a significant storyline aspect in the upcoming Season 5. Postpartum depression was of utmost importance to me. It was too much for me to ignore, and I had no choice. A sympathetic actress like Jennifer Love Hewitt can help convey these stories in a way that isn’t exploitative and feels incredibly current,” Minear noted in his conclusion.
Thus, our goal here was to complicate their connection in every way we could. We’re not going to merely glance at it. At the start of Season 5, we’re going to try to address it in a way that complicates the program. Put simply, it’s not going to disappear.” “9-1-1” premieres its fifth season on Monday, September 20 at 8/7c on Fox.
