Nancy Schaefer Will Enter 10th District Congressional Race

(3/4/08) It's official now. Sen. Nancy Schaefer will not seek re-election but instead will seek the Republican nomination for Congress in the 10th District, a seat now held by Rep. Paul Broun. Rep. Barry Fleming, the state House Republican Whip, also is seeking the position.

Schaefer, founder of a group called Family Concerns, was the Republican nominee for lieutenant governor in 1994 and sought the Republican nomination for governor in 1998. She was elected to the state Senate in 2004.

She announced her decision on Tuesday.
