Rand Knight's Fire Sale
(7/29/08) Hillary Clinton did it. So why not Rand Knight, who finished
fourth in the Democratic Senate primary two weeks ago and $100,000
in debt. Like Clinton, he is selling off no-longer-needed campaign
stuff. He’s also soliciting contributions.
Knight said he faces $20,000 in outstanding invoices plus $80,000
in debt that he borrowed and loaned to the campaign.
He’s offering to sell 33 nearly-new cell phones – 4
AT&T Wireless and 29 MetroPCS wireless. In addition, he wants
to dispose of three portable air conditioners.
He made the offer in an e-mail yesterday in which he also said
he will consider a bid for public office again if he can get rid
of that debt.
The e-mail also encouraged his supporters to vote for Jim Martin,
calling Martin “a true Democrat … (who) can beat Saxby
Chambliss this fall.”
Clinton raised $42,000 in her fire sale, according to press reports.
