87% Approve of Reduction Or Elimination of Ad Valorem
Tax On Automobiles
An InsiderAdvantage/Majority opinion Survey conducted January 15-16 of 500 adults
in Georgia asked:
Q. Do you approve or disapprove of legislation that would reduce or
eliminate the ad valorem "tag tax" on automobiles in Georgia:
Approve: 87%
Oppose: 9%
Undecided/Don't Know: 4%
The statewide telephone survey was weighted for age, race, gender, and political
affiliation, and has a margin of error of plus or minus 4 percent.
Analysis: Of all of the tax proposals floated this year, this
particular one has the broadest level of support. It was a big winner among
Democrats, Republicans, all age groups, and with both males and females. This
is most likely due to the fact that it is easy to understand, impacts all ages
and races, and appears most likely to be a more immediate tangible manner of
tax relief.
