Capitol Lobbying Corps Losing A Familiar
Face
(12/6/07) The Capitol lobbying corps is losing a familiar face.
Jim Hammock, president and founder of Omni Resources Group, says
he’s going to kick back now and retire from active lobbying
effective Dec. 31. He will continue to provide consulting services
to clients, he said.
“I’ve been in the lobbying business for 20 years and
the time has come to scale back my obligations and enjoy a little
more free time,” he said in a statement.
Hammock has been a familiar face around Georgia politics for nearly
four decades. He served two, six-year terms on the Public Service
Commission, and was appointed to state boards by three different
governors -- Busbee (Human Resources), Miller (Industry, Trade and
Tourism) and Perdue (Economic Development.)
Hammock was one of a small group of early supporters who helped
launch the career of former U.S. Sen. Sam Nunn.
Hammock and his wife, Ramona, reside in Dublin.
