Yes, It's A Gimmick And - No, It's
Not A Joke
(12/31/07) We checked with the man, himself. This is not a joke.
Beginning at 10 a.m. on New Year's Day, U.S. Senate candidate and
former TV newsman Dale Cardwell will be hoisted on a tiny scaffolding
320 feet up the Corey Tower, there to dwell (and do live broadcasts,
of course) until "the public realizes we're all in trouble."
He will have a camera and microphone with him and, yes, he's planning
to do TV and radio interviews and do interactive stuff on his website
during this event.
The press release that went out Monday afternoon helpfully pointed
out: "Site will offer live 24/7 audio-video feed. Site is wired
and cable ready for all broadcast and Internet media. Dale will
be available for interviews from his perch for days, even weeks
until his message has been delivered."
Sometimes people send stuff like this out as a prank. That's why
you've got to check 'em out. So I got Cardwell on the phone. It
really isn't a joke.
The press release said he would remain on his perch until "the
public realizes we're all in trouble."
Which means what, I asked.
"Until I wake people up to the seriousness of our situation
- that everyday Americans have no control any more. Government has
been bought by giant corporations" that feed the politicians'
campaign kitties so they can remain in office.
He says he's well-supplied with warm clothes from his days reporting
in all kind of weather and has no fear of heights.
His webcasts will be on Dale08.com
