Huckabee Will Speak At Pro-Life Rally
On Statehouse Steps Two Weeks Before The Georgia Primary
(12/18/07) Two weeks before Georgia’s presidential primary,
former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee will be in town for the state’s
largest annual pro-life gathering on the steps of the Georgia Capitol.
The memorial service typically draws thousands to the statehouse
on a day commemorating the Supreme Court’s Roe v. Wade decision.
Gary Bauer, president of American Values, will be the keynote speaker.
Also speaking: Atlanta Archbishop Wilton Gregory.
“This is an opportunity for pro-life Georgians to come together
the deaths of approximately 48 million babies who have died in the
past 35 years,” said Georgia Right to Life President Dan Becker.
He said his group also will appeal to lawmakers for passage of
the Human Life Amendment, HR
536.
The proposed constitutional amendment would say this:
(a) The rights of every person shall be recognized, among which
in the first place is the inviolable right of every innocent human
being to life. The right to life is the paramount and most fundamental
right of a person.
(b) With respect to the fundamental and inalienable rights of all
persons guaranteed in this Constitution, the word 'person' applies
to all human beings, irrespective of age, race, sex, health, function,
or condition of dependency, including unborn children at every state
of their biological development, including fertilization."
