Jim Whitehead Named To State Board
of Corrections
(12/12/07) Some noteworthy appointments late today from Gov. Sonny
Perdue:
* Former Sen. Jim Whitehead, who lost his bid
to replace the late Congressman Charlie Norwood last summer, has
been appointed to the state Board of Corrections. Whitehead served
in the Senate from 2005 to 2007. He owns Jim Whitehead Tire Service.
* J. Michael Byrd, husband of state Rep.
Charlice Byrd, will become a member of the Georgia Regional
Transportation Authority. Byrd is a former chairman of the Cherokee
County Commission. He is a real estate agent for Prudential Georgia
Realty.
* Sylvia Anderson, president of AT&T Georgia,
will take a seat on the state Board of Technical and Adult Education.
Among the boards on which she already serves: the Georgia Cancer
Coalition, the Georgia Chamber of Commerce and the Georgia Partnership
for Excellence in Education.
