NEWS ALERT:
Live On C-SPAN, Towery Reveals First Poll Among Potential Candidates
In Atlanta Mayor's Race
(8/29/07) In a wide-ranging interview about the politics of Atlanta
and the South Wednesday morning, InsiderAdvantage Chairman Matt
Towery revealed that his firm polled a potential Atlanta mayor’s
race last month.
Here are the results of the survey of 479 registered voters in
the city of Atlanta, weighted for age, race and gender.
Clark Howard, 36 percent
Robb Pitts, 10 percent
Lisa Borders, 7 percent
Mary Norwood, 7 percent
Cathy Woolard, 4 percent
Kasim Reed, 3 percent
Others: 2 percent
Undecided: 31 percent
The survey had a margin of error of plus or minus 5 percent.
Towery explained to the national C-SPAN audience that the race
is early and while politicians like to think that they have name
ID, true name identification does not come except among community
leaders (until a race really begins and television commercials and
other advertising boost name identification.)
He attributed Howard’s substantial lead to his talk show’s
significant daily presence on the most powerful radio station in
the city.
